There’s something so surreal about begging your friends, family and internet strangers for money, almost every day. Emails come in … this person has given you $10. This person $100. This next $25. In between, so many wonderful, supportive comments, tweets, retweets, emails and Facebook shares.
(For those out of the loop, I am referring to this: www.indiegogo.com/nympsam.)
I am SO grateful for all of you that donated money to my cause and shared it with those around you. We raised $3520 and my goal was $3000! I really need(ed) you for motivation, and to help me really believe there will be a place for this book out there among the pretty heavy hitters. Having people reach out, saying they’ve been excited for a realistic look at non-monogamy has been thrilling and I can’t wait to get it in your hands.
Speaking of which, here’s the situation:
I am currently swamped in my life. My full time job, as Event Producer for Digifest (www.torontodigifest.ca), has me until Oct 26th. After that, I’ll be free-ish, but then my own sexuality conference, Playground (www.playground.conf.com) happens from Nov 9-11. PS Early bird tickets are currently on sale for Playground, so I hope those of you in the GTA will be there!
After the whirlwind that is 2 big conferences in a row, I will have a couple of days to get myself together (or get the post-event flu, as I did last year), and then we head to Mexico for my cousin-in-law’s wedding. Once back from Mexico, I plan on being in book mode, almost full time (save for my once a week teaching gig).
Right now, I’ve made a whole whack of edits and have to enter them into the document. It’s not the most fun job, but it has helped me realize where all the holes are – and what parts need a total re-write because I started this book back in 2008. There are a few chapters left to write from scratch, and then I send to a few generous local people who will be helping me edit.
If all works out, and I can kick my own ass as well as you all deserve, I should be done mid-winter and have books actually printed (and in e-book form!) not long after that.
I welcome your constant words of encouragement, ass kickings or whatever else you want to throw my way. I hope that I can, in turn, deliver something to you that at the very least entertains you, and at most can help you or your loved ones grow, thrive and succeed at whatever relationship(s) you find yourselves in.
Kisses, hugs and licks,
Samantha
